08/11/15 Meet our Geekstone Hero - Bas Jansen Our Geekstone Hero Conference is all about people so meet Bas Jansen and check out what he thinks about Geekstone, sharing knowledge, happiness and success: 1. Why do you consider sharing knowledge important? We all learn from others, so it is more than logical to share your knowledge if you can. If nobody would share knowledge, we all would be programming on our own and each of us will be solving the same problems again and again. In order to deliver true value and make great products, you need work together as a team and make use of all the relevant knowledge you can find. And there you have the most difficult part: how to find out what is relevant and where to get it? 2. What meaning does Geekstone have for you personally? At the moment: not very much. But I strongly believe that will be different after the conference. 3. What makes you happy at work? What makes me happy at work is that I am given the freedom to do what I think is necessary to create an optimal functioning team where every team member does what he or she likes and gets challenged to develop their skills. It is a fantastic feeling to be able to deliver great features and improvements to our customers continuously (multiple times per week). 4. What is your greatest success? My greatest success was in my previous job where we as a small company were able to supply a business intelligence tool to one of the major oil companies. We were able to try out, make proof of concepts and deploy new KPIs in matter of days instead of 6 to 9 months, which is what they were used to from their own IT organization. Â Â By Maja Bozic
